We reveal big SECRETS (weather condition)

I put you in context: Yesterday I went fishing. The worst conditions, gusts of 50 km/h, northerly winds with a cold front, abnormally low atmospheric pressure (985 hPa), rain, snow and ice. I captured two bearded men as big as my hand, it wasn't an ideal evening and yet I knew full well that it wasn't going to be good. At least, knowing it allowed me to adjust accordingly (and not make me wait).

This is a bit of what I want to convey to you in the following lines: Understand the impact of environmental conditions and adjust accordingly.

Between you and me, if you've mastered that, you've got a wicked head start on your teammates.

Why? Simply because you will focus on the right technique and the right lure accordingly.

Now on the attack.

You have probably noticed through your peaches that there are times when the fish bite constantly, it's almost miraculous. And the next day, in the same place, nothing. Don't worry, it's not your fault, but we'll try to fix it together. Here's what we're going to tackle today:

  • The direction and strength of the wind
  • atmospheric pressure

Two factors that greatly influence the behavior of fish.

Everyone has their own theory on the subject of wind direction and strength. It is rarely unanimous. However, one thing is certain, his following statements agree with many anglers. The westerly wind, between 10 and 20 km/h is the most favorable for fishing. The wind from the north would be the least favourable, especially if it is associated with a cold front. A very light easterly wind is favorable especially if bad weather is coming. The southeast wind is quite good if the sky is variable.

The wind is your best friend (I agree, it's always more difficult to fish when it's windy BUT), it increases the oxygen level in the water (especially on the surface), it brings nutrients and it changes the intensity of the current on certain bodies of water. All elements that bother the fish, for the better.

The atmospheric pressure is directly related to the weather conditions, it is especially in the first moments of a change in pressure that the fish become more active. When the pressure stabilizes, the activity also calms down.

It is more difficult for humans to feel the atmospheric pressure in the open air. However, it is not quite the same for fish. The water being incompressible, the pressure is therefore directed directly at the fish. We hurt our eardrums when we dive to the bottom of a swimming pool, imagine yourself 30 feet lower now.

In our latitudes, the average pressure is 1015 hPa, a low pressure is below 1010 hPa and a high pressure above 1020 hPa.

Atmospheric pressure

It is difficult to memorize all the changes in atmospheric pressure. That's why I made you two tables, much easier to understand and master. Do me a favor, save them in your phone. If you use them before each fishing, it's the best 5 minutes you will have invested in your day.

I can never assure you of absolute success on your fishing trips. But take my word for it, a prepared angler is a winning angler.

Do not hesitate to write to us for more information, it makes us and will always be a great pleasure to talk to you.

I've worked enough for today, now it's up to you.

Good day and good fishing!
